Jose Rizal Prison Cell
Jose Rizal Prison Cell. In this cell Jose Rizal was detained prisoner from November 3 to the morning of December 29, 1896. Falsely charged with the rebellion, sedition and formation of illegal societies.
After the reading of the court sentence at 6 am of December 29, Jose Rizal was kept in an improvised chapel prison until his execution at 7:03 am on December 30, 1896 on the Luneta, Bagumbayan Field, Manila.
Luneta Park
Luneta and Rizal Park is situated in the heart of the city of Manila, Philippines. It is at the northern end of Roxas Boulevard, overlooking Manila Bay.
Pahiyas Festival
Pahiyas is the harvest festival and is observed in the towns of Lucban, Candelaria, Tayabas, Sariaya, Tiaong and Lucena City in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers. Considered one the Philippines’ biggest harvest festivals, it is deeply rooted in the traditional celebration of thanksgiving for bountiful harvests.
Lucban is nestled at the foot of Mt. Banahaw and is about 26 kilometers from Lucena City, the provincial capital of Quezon Province. Bounded on the north by Luisiana, Laguna, on the west by Majayjay, Laguna, on the east by Sampaloc, Quezon and on the south by Tayabas, Quezon.
The town is approximately 160 kilometers from Metro Manila via Lucena City and 133 kilometers from Metro Manila using the Sta. Cruz-Pagsanjan route in Laguna. The average travel time is three and a half hours.
National Museum
The National Museum of the Philippines is the official repository established in 1901 as a natural history and ethnography museum of the Philippines. It is located next to Rizal Park and near Intramuros in Manila. Its main building was designed in 1918 by an American architect Daniel Burnham. Today, that building, the former home of the Congress of the Philippines, holds the National Art Gallery, natural sciences and other support divisions.
The adjacent building in the Agrifina Circle of Rizal Park, formerly housing the Department of Finance, houses the Anthropology and Archaeology Divisions and is known as the Museum of the Filipino People.
